Terms of Service
1. Services
BioResearch Support provides research support services as described on our website, quotation, or service agreement. Services may include scientific editing, manuscript preparation support, methodological consultation, evidence-synthesis support, selected statistical analyses, and related research assistance.
The specific scope, deliverables, timelines, fees, and requirements for each project will be confirmed in writing before work begins.
Our services do not constitute legal, medical, regulatory, or institutional ethics advice. Clients remain responsible for obtaining all required research approvals and for ensuring that their work complies with applicable institutional, ethical, legal, and journal requirements.
2. Quotations and Acceptance
Quotations are based on the information provided by the client at the time of inquiry. A quotation may specify the project scope, estimated turnaround time, deliverables, number of revisions, and applicable fees.
A quotation becomes accepted when the client confirms approval in writing, makes the required payment or deposit, or otherwise authorizes BioResearch Support to begin the work.
If the project scope changes after acceptance, including changes to the word count, dataset, research question, methodology, or requested deliverables, additional fees or revised timelines may apply.
3. Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and usable materials and instructions necessary for the project. This includes ensuring that submitted data, manuscripts, references, and supporting documents are accurate and lawfully obtained.
Clients must:
Provide clear and accurate project requirements.
Ensure that they have the right to share all submitted materials.
Obtain all required ethical, institutional, regulatory, or research approvals.
Protect confidential information and remove unnecessary personal or sensitive data where appropriate.
Review and approve all deliverables before submission, publication, or academic use.
Remain responsible for final interpretations, authorship decisions, declarations, and submitted work.
BioResearch Support may pause or revise a project if necessary information, approvals, or instructions are missing.
4. Fees and Payment
Fees will be stated in the quotation or service agreement. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, work will begin after the required payment or deposit has been received.
Invoices are payable according to the payment terms specified in the quotation. Additional work outside the agreed scope may be charged separately.
All applicable taxes, transaction fees, or other charges will be identified where required.
BioResearch Support reserves the right to suspend work or withhold final deliverables when an account is overdue.
5. Timelines and Delivery
Estimated timelines are based on the agreed project scope and the timely receipt of all required materials, instructions, payments, and approvals from the client.
Delays caused by incomplete information, additional requests, changes in scope, delayed feedback, technical issues, or circumstances beyond BioResearch Support’s reasonable control may affect the delivery date.
Any timeline provided is an estimate unless a specific deadline has been expressly confirmed in writing.
6. Revisions and Additional Work
The quotation will specify whether revisions are included and, where applicable, the number of revision rounds covered by the agreed fee.
Revision requests must relate to the original agreed scope of work. New analyses, substantial changes to the research question, additional sections, major restructuring, or new materials may be treated as additional work.
Clients should submit revision requests within the agreed review period after delivery. Requests received after this period may require a new quotation.
7. Cancellations and Refunds
A client may request cancellation of a project by contacting BioResearch Support in writing.
If work has not started, any refund will be considered in accordance with the applicable quotation and payment terms. If work has already started, fees may be retained or charged for work completed, time reserved, expenses incurred, and non-refundable third-party costs.
Where appropriate, BioResearch Support may offer a partial refund for uncompleted work, subject to the circumstances of the cancellation and the agreed service terms.
BioResearch Support may cancel or suspend a project if the client fails to provide necessary materials, does not meet payment obligations, requests unlawful or unethical assistance, or materially breaches these Terms of Service.
8. File Retention and Confidentiality
BioResearch Support will handle client materials in accordance with its Privacy Policy and reasonable confidentiality practices.
Project files may be retained for a limited period after completion to support service administration, revisions, record-keeping, or contractual obligations. Unless otherwise agreed, clients should maintain their own copies of all submitted materials and final deliverables.
After the applicable retention period, files may be securely deleted, destroyed, or anonymized.
9. Intellectual Property
Clients retain ownership of their original manuscripts, datasets, research materials, and other content they provide, subject to any rights belonging to third parties.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, clients receive the right to use the final deliverables prepared specifically for their project for their intended academic, research, or professional purposes after all applicable fees have been paid.
BioResearch Support retains ownership of its pre-existing templates, processes, methodologies, tools, general know-how, and materials developed independently of a specific client project.
Clients are responsible for ensuring that the use of third-party materials, references, data, images, or software complies with applicable copyright, licensing, and institutional requirements.
10. Limitations of Services
BioResearch Support provides professional research-support services but does not guarantee the accuracy of client-supplied data, research findings, journal acceptance, publication, academic credit, funding, or any other academic or professional outcome.
Clients remain responsible for reviewing all deliverables and ensuring that final work is accurate, complete, appropriately interpreted, and suitable for submission or use.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, BioResearch Support will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special losses arising from the use of its services.
Nothing in these Terms of Service excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted by law.
11. Dispute Resolution
If a concern or dispute arises, the client and BioResearch Support agree to first attempt to resolve the matter through good-faith communication.
The party raising the concern should provide written details of the issue and allow a reasonable opportunity for the other party to respond and propose a resolution.
If the dispute cannot be resolved through direct communication, the parties may consider mediation or another mutually agreed dispute-resolution process before pursuing formal legal proceedings, where appropriate.
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws applicable in the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Subject to any mandatory rights or protections under applicable law, disputes arising from these Terms of Service will be addressed by the courts or other legally authorized dispute-resolution bodies with appropriate jurisdiction in Ontario, Canada.
13. Changes to These Terms
BioResearch Support may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes in its services, business practices, or legal requirements.
The updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the website or services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms of Service, to the extent permitted by law.
